Jilkaat Kwaan Cultural Tours

An authentic native Alaskan Experience on the banks of the Chilkat River

Tours will start in July 2010.

Come and visit the Traditional Jilkaat Kwaan Cultural Center. We want to share our traditional food, dances, and regalia. We are ready to tell our story our way.

Travel the National Scenic Byway 22 miles through the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, enjoying all the natural surroundings on our tour bus. Wildlife sightings are possible along the highway, as well as views of majestic mountains along the river.

Experience our Tlingit Language that has been revived in our schools and community: our stories are handed down through generations of descendents and friends. Our ancestors traded with Canada's First Nations to enhance their life style and pass on pieces of our culture. We would like to trade our knowledge for your interest in our culture.

On your tour, you will also visit a recently built replica of a Long House to learn about its traditional uses. You will also learn about our Chilkat Blanket which is the signature of our people here in the Chilkat Indian Village. We hope this memorable experience will enhance your knowledge of our people, our culture and our way of life.

After the tour, join us for a delectable salmon meal prepared in our Hospitality House.
